Format & Prizes

The championship is conducted at 54 holes of stroke play. After 18 holes, the field is cut to the low 45 scores and ties for the second round. After 36 holes, the field is cut to the low 24 scores for the final round. An on-course playoff will break ties for the final championship round and earn an automatic exemption into the 2025 championship.

 

NOTE: Gross tournament: all players will play from the same tees.

 

The top 5 Players will receive awards/ prizes.

Residency: Maintains Residence in Moore County, NC

*Entries are subject to rejection at any time, including during the event, by the Committee or host club. Reasons for rejection may include unbecoming conduct.

August 7: Welcome Party @ Golf Pride Headquarters (Pinehurst No.8) - Invitation Only.

Players and one guest are invited to attend. Complimentary appetizers, beer, and wine.

Competition Schedule

August  8: Round 1 - 18 Holes Stroke Play @ Foxfire Resort & Golf Club (Red Course). Cut to 45 & ties.
August  9: Round 2 - 18 Holes Stroke Play @ Pinehurst Resort (Course No. 7). Cut to 24.
August 10: Round 3 - 18 Holes Stroke Play @ Country Club of North Carolina (Dogwood Course). Awards immediately after.

Round 1 - Foxfire Resort & Golf Club (Red Course) - Blue Tees - EST Yardage: 6,700
Round 2 - Pinehurst Resort (Course No. 7) - Blue Tees - EST Yardage: 6,800
Round 3 - Country Club of North Carolina (Dogwood Course) - Gold Tees - EST Yardage: 6,900 

Tournament Rules

USGA Rules of Golf govern play.

Local rules are distributed at the starter’s table, and on-course rules are official throughout the tournament. 

*The Tournament Committee reserves the right to alter conditions or schedules as stated at any time during the championship.

Starting Times

Tee times will be posted and emailed on Monday, August 4th.

Pace of Play Pace of play is extremely important to this tournament, and SLOW PLAY will not be tolerated. If your group is out of position, the first offense is a warning, and the second offense is a one-shot penalty.
Food Service Information All food and beverages will be at the player’s expense.
Spectator & Caddie Information

Spectator Information: Spectators are welcome at the Moore County Amateur Championships. Spectators cannot ride in a player’s golf cart at any time or rent a spectator cart.
**Due to the limited number of available carts, spectator carts will not be available for rent.**
Caddie Information: Caddies are permitted. During the play of a hole, either the player or the caddie may ride in a golf cart but not both at the same time.

 

Exempt Players

 

  1. Top 24 Players in the 82nd Moore County Amateur Championship (2024),
  2. Previous Champion of the Moore County Amateur,
  3. Current Club Champion, as of April 1, 2025, from a Golf Facility in Moore County, NC,
  4. Any Carolinas Golf Association CGA Champion since 2020,
  5. Any player who qualified for a USGA event in 2024. 

*All exempt players must maintain a residence in Moore County, NC. 
**The Tournament Committee reserves the right to issue a limited number of special exemptions.

Practice Rounds

There are no pre-negotiated rates or access with this year's host sites.

Refunds

If a player withdraws from the championship before the entry window closes, they will receive a full refund minus a $20.00 administrative fee. 

If a player withdraws from the championship after the entry window closes, they will receive a $100.00 refund.

If a player withdraws from the championship after the first-round tee times have been posted, no refund will be given.

If a player is withdrawn due to a committee member's decision, no refund will be given. 

Inclement Weather

If we encounter inclement weather on any/all days, we will do everything to complete each tournament on its scheduled day. However, the Tournament Committee reserves the right to modify schedules according to course availability to complete a round, use 9-hole scores, handicaps/exemptions, or other means to complete the tournament.
